DOCUMENT OVERVIEW
The India Tourist eVisa is an official document permitting entry into and travel within India for travelers from over 160 countries. It was launched by the Indian government in 2014. Currently, travelers who wish to visit India for tourism can apply for a one month Tourist eVisa. In addition to the Tourist eVisa, travelers to India are required to fill out the India Self-Declaration Form, a new health document that must be presented upon arrival. To get the India tourist eVisa, you need to provide personal information and some details about your intended stay in India. In addition, it is required to have a confirmed flight ticket before submitting the form.

  • US RESIDENTS ONLY: To return to the US you’ll need to take a COVID-19 test the day before your entry date. Don’t waste time looking for a test lab in India.   • The Indian Tourist eVisa is valid for entry through 28 designated Airports: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Portblair, Pune, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Varanasi & Vishakhapatnam; and 5 designated seaports: Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai, Chennai. However, travelers can exit from any of the authorized Immigration Check Posts (ICPs) in India.

  • The Indian eVisa is non-extendable.

  • The applicant's passport should have at least six months validity from the date of arrival in India, and also have at least two blank pages.

  • Applicants do not require a visa if they are continuing on to another country and will not be exiting the transit area of the airport.

  • Nationals of countries with a high risk of yellow fever transmission must present a yellow fever vaccination card, otherwise they may be quarantined for up to 6 days upon arrival in India. See yellow fever-affected countries here

  • Applicants must enter India with the same passport used to apply for the Tourist eVisa.

Quarantine requirements for "at risk" country arrivals: All travelers arriving from "at risk" countries will be tested on arrival.

  • Travelers who test positive on arrival test: Further testing in isolation facility for new virus variant. If the traveler tests positive for new variant they must remain in strict isolation in facility until a negative test result is obtained. If the traveler tests negative for the new variant they can leave when discharged by medical staff.
    • Travelers who test negative on arrival test: 7 days quarantine, day 8 PCR and 7 days self monitoring. If the day 8 test is positive, travelers must attend isolation facility as above.

Quarantine requirements for non-"at risk" country arrivals: 25% of travelers will be randomly selected for PCR testing on arrival.

  • If the traveler tests negative: 14 days self monitoring.
  • If the traveler tests positive: Further testing in isolation facility for new virus variant. If the traveler tests positive for new variant they must remain in strict isolation in facility until a negative test result is obtained. If the traveler tests negative for the new variant they can leave when discharged by medical staff.
